Condolence: I remember Jeanne from the Calhoun-Gilmer Writers Guild, which she started, hosted, and led for I believe it was 13 years. She put so much time into keeping that group going, including offering her own camp on the Middle Fork River for our annual retreats. She had a special gift for what writers call "voice"--she could write stories from the point of view of a 14 year old orphan or a gruff male farmer with equal veracity. She was probably the most talented and successful among us, but still did a lot to help all the writers in the area. Jeanne had a full life, and I'm glad of that.

Condolence: Jeanne was among the finest women I have met in my lifetime, gracious, involved and inspiring. I will always remember the writer's group and the retreats at her camp, and the wonderful writer types that gathered there, making my life better. She will be remembered for her dedication to putting life to paper, undoubtedly the most serious and prolific writer in the hills of Calhoun County. There last time I visited her, ailing, she said, "I guess I'm getting ready to fly away." She has flown, and our deepest appreciation for her life remains. Bests and sympathy to the family.
