Forest Ray Tingler, 86, of Big Springs, WV passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Minnie Hamilton Health System Long Term Care Center, Grantsville.
He was the son of the late Elzie Morgan Tingler and Virginia Richards Tingler and was born September 2, 1930 in Calhoun County, WV.
He is survived by four children, Genieva Glover (Ken); Helen Jeanette Gard (Charles); Eli Ray Tingler (Hazel); and Edward Tingler (Barbara); and numerous grandchildren, greath-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Blanch Cunningham Tingler; a daughter, Ellen Paulette Tingler Shingleton; and a grandson, Wesley Todd Glover.
In his earlier years, he did carpentry/construction work, was an oil and gas worker, was employed by Johns Manville in Parkersburg, and was Maintenance Supervisor for the Calhoun County Board of Education.
He enjoyed playing cards, pitching horseshoes, and hunting. He was a very caring and loving person and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home and Cremation, Inc., Grantsville at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 with Rev. Carroll McCauley and Rick Metheney officiating. A private family viewing will be from 11:00 a.m.-noon. Public visitation will be held from noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. The graveside committal will take place in the funeral home following the service with no service in the cemetery. Interment will be in Big Springs Cemetery.
