Obituary for Muriel McCormick (Carpenter)
Muriel McCormick, 85, of Orma, WV passed away at her home on Friday, August 4, 2017.
She was born in Orma, WV on October 6, 1931, a daughter of the late Greely and Marie Hoptin Carpenter. She was a graduate of Calhoun County High School. She worked as a secretary at Sherwin Williams in Cleveland, Ohio before marrying Walter F. McCormick; they were married 59 years. They raised their children Linda and Roger in Mentor, Ohio. She was always an active church member of Grace Church of Mentor. She organized Sunday School, Vacation Bible Schools, and the church nursery. She retired from Lake Health Care Systems as a secretary and then returned to Orma. She was a true lady, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers Clifford Carpenter and Joshia Carpenter.
She is survived by her husband, Walter McCormick; children, Linda S. Kriz (Kenneth) of Wickliffe, Ohio and Roger C. McCormick (Ramona) of Wickliffe, Ohio; grandchildren, Julie A. Fassett (Jason) of Willoughby Hills, Ohio and Jacob A. Kriz of Wickliffe, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Daniel J. Fassett and Ethan T. Fassett; siblings, Eva Mae Hosey of Ocala, FL; Harry Carpenter (Sharon) of Mineral Wells, WV; Gail Carpenter (Carol) of The Villages, FL; Joseph G. Carpenter (Chris) of Medina, Ohio; Jack Carpenter (Mary) of Seville, Ohio; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home and Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg, WV on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Lough officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Carpenter Cemetery, Orma, WV. Online condolences may be expressed at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com
