Obituary for Emma Jean Minney (Helmick)

Emma Jean Minney, 96, of Spencer, WV passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Roane General Hospital, Spencer, WV.
She was born in Nicut, WV on March 22, 1921, a daughter of the late Hutson and Bell Metz Helmick.
Prior to marriage she was a stone cutter in Grantsville, WV as part of the Works Progress Administration (WPA), under President Roosevelt. She was a former cook at a two-room school in Calhoun County. She was married to Ressie Minney for 54 years who passed away in 2000. Her family would like to send a special Thank You to the staff at Mile Tree Nursing and Rehabilitation and Roane General Hospital for their care.
She is survived by sons, Junior Minney, Johnie Minney, and James Lee Minney all of Spencer, WV; daughters, Shirley Jean Minney Stewart and Ena Sue Minney both of Jacobsburg, Ohio; Billie Jo Minney and Judy Ina Minney Smith both of Spencer, WV; and Emma Lou Minney Barnhouse of Rosedale, WV; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Denver Helmick, Ferley Helmick, and Don Helmick; sisters, Gay Helmick Miller and Losie Helmick Carter.
A graveside service and interment will be held at Rosedale Baptist Church Cemetery, Rosedale, WV on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Larry Fisher officiating. Visitation will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg, WV. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. Online condolences may be expressed at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com
