Eva Marie Yoak Collins, 84, of Weston, WV, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, October 12, 2017. She passed away at Genesis Health System, Zanesville, Ohio following an extended illness.
She was born on April 24, 1933 at Norman Ridge, Big Bend, Calhoun County, WV, the eldest daughter of the late Loyal Bell and Mona Gladys Fortney Yoak.
She was a 1953 grad of Calhoun County High School. While in school she worked at J & B Rexall Drug. On December 25, 1955, she married her beloved Rodney V. Collins, who preceded her in death in 1995. She was an avid quilter. Her other hobbies also included ceramics, painting, working in her flower beds, camping, gardening, and canning.
She is survived by a special nephew whom she raised like a son, Torey Thomas Yoak (Sherry), and grandson Elijah.
Eva was from a family of twelve siblings. Surviving are Evelyn McCormick (Jim) of Grantsville, WV; Edna Schmeller of Akron, Ohio; Lowell Thomas Yoak (Drema) of Grantsville, WV; Pauline Jarvis of Westmoreland, TN; Jim Yoak (Carolyn) of Heaters, WV; Neva Patterson (Ron) of Parkersburg, WV.
Also surviving is a special niece, Netta Norman (Evert) of Grantsville, WV; dear friend and companion, Donnie Hughes of Camden Station, WV and best friends and neighbors, Joe and Sarah Murray of Weston, WV. Eva had 19 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews and four foster brothers.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Robert Yoak, Denzil Yoak, Dennis Yoak, Edith Burrows and Sharon Frame.
Eva will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville, WV and on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 10:00 a.m.-Noon at Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, Weston, WV. Online condolences may be expressed at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com.
A funeral service will be held at Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, Weston, WV on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Bryan Groves officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Weston, WV. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Norman Ridge Cemetery (Contact Netta Norman), 3659 N. Calhoun Highway, Grantsville, WV 26147.
