Obituary for John William Norman

John William Norman, 68, formerly of Orma, WV, departed this life suddenly November 23, 2017 of an apparent heart attack. He was currently a resident of Genesis Healthcare of Glenville, WV. He had just enjoyed Thanksgiving with his granddaughter Judy (Matt & son, Dillon) Sampson at Arnoldsburg, WV. He was born July 15, 1949 and had a long history of diabetic related problems, having developed it at an early age.
He enjoyed traveling, old cars and good food at family get-togethers. He was a very kind, compassionate, easy going guy who was always willing to help his family and neighbors any way he could. He was a Christian by faith.
He is survived by three sons, Alfred (Betty) Starcher of Grantsville, Richard (Donna) and Freddie Starcher of Orma; five daughters, Linda Thrasher of Cumberland MD, Carolyn (Rick) Carpenter of Arnoldsburg, Virginia and Norma Starcher of Orma, Kay King of Grantsville; sister, Janet (Jack) Marks of Arnoldsburg, sister, Sheila (Bill) Butler of Big Bend, WV; brother, Jim (Dawn) Helmick of Millstone, WV, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Roy “Jr.” and Ona Helmick and father John W. Falls, he was preceded in death by his wife of 37 yrs., Freda Stemple Norman, brother, Duane Falls; John Dewayne Norman and Tony Starcher;
A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg, WV on Monday Nov. 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Shelly Mace officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the time of service. Interment will follow in the Norman Cemetery, Beech WV.
