Obituary for Elah Mae Gainer (Hartshorn)

Elah Mae Gainer, 80, of Parkersburg, WV, formerly of Grantsville, W V, went to be with the Lord on November 18, 2017.
She was born on July 30, 1937 to the late Everett and Josie Sturm Hartshorn. She was a graduate of Calhoun High School Class of 1954. She was employed at B. F. Goodrich, James’ Department Store, and was a homemaker. She cared for her loving mother for a time while living along the banks of the Little Kanawha River. Many baptisms were held near their family home. The fishermen and neighbor folk would stop to visit.
She was a member of Enon Baptist, Nobe Baptist, and Ravenswood First Baptist Churches and attended several others. Elah Mae was a devoted Christian and faithfully attended when the church doors were open. She served as President of American Baptist Women for years, contributing to missionary programs such as Rolling Bandages for White Cross and The Love Gift. The ABW sent numerous cards to shut-ins and kept the prayer chains going for whatever the request. Elah Mae was the wife of the late Willis Hubert Gainer and Lorous Roberts.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Elah is preceded in death by brothers, Dayton, Boyd, Ernest, and Glen Hartshorn and Mitchell Stump; and infant sister, Ellieve. Mitchell’s family became her family during the flood of 1985. His children Jonah (Britney) and Kasey (Rick) are her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren are Miley, Rilyn, Jonah, Jr., and Emma Grace Stump. Elah Mae Gainer is also survived by brother, Earl Hartshorn of Bolt, WV and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service has been entrusted to Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville, WV. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Mt.
