Obituary for Dortha Ann Horton (Hicks)

Dortha Ann Hicks Horton, 82, of Chloe, went to her Eternal Home, to be with our Lord Jesus, Tuesday morning, March 13, 2018. She passed away in her home after a long illness at 8:00am.

She was born February 22, 1936, the child of Huey Crawford Hicks and Ethel Jarvis, who lived most of their lives in Stinson, Washington district, Calhoun, West Virginia. Her ancestors were among the earliest settlers in West Virginia being instrumental in opening the lands of West Virginia to settlement.

Dortha was a Christian and spent many years in the Lords service, being involved with Reiner Rd. Baptist Church in Wadsworth, Ohio, and Akron Baptist Temple in Akron, Ohio. Married to William Horton in 1956 she is survived by him and their 3 children: Patricia Lynne Horton Metheney, and twin girls Terrie Ann Horton and Sherrie Ann Horton Guest. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Jennifer Menzel McCracken, Jason Bruce Menzel and William Theodore Menzel (who died in 1993), and Daniel Guest, Matthew Guest and William Brent Horton and 7 great grandchildren: Katlyn McCracken Brewer, Ashley (Bo) McCracken, Benjamin McCracken, Jr, Ethan McCracken and Tyler Menzel, Patrick Menzel, and Nathan Menzel.

A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg, WV on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Tanner officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hicks Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com
