Condolence: I met Carson on the day I moved to the Buckhannon area. In fact it was the first but not last time he tried to walk into my car and fall down. I stopped to make sure he was okay and he was smiling. Told me wanted something to eat and apologized for making me stop. I got some food and we talked about the area, where he was from and had a few laughs. It would not be my last encounter with Carson.
When I started working for the newspaper, Carson would come in and chat. Many times he just needed to use the restroom. For someone who lived the life Carson was dealt, he was always smiling, always looking for someone to talk with. He wanted to interact with people, made him feel human, felt like he belonged.
Over the years I saw Carson several times a week, made phone calls for him and just listened to what he had to say. A lot of people never spent enough time getting to know him. Carson was much smarter than most gave him credit, had a wonderful singing voice and certainly knew how to survive in a world where little was available for him.
I have conflicted feelings about his passing. It would have been great if he could have found a safe place to live. I know he is no longer tired, scared, hungry or in pain.
For that, I am thankful he no longer has to deal with a harsh life. I'm forever grateful Carson let me into his world, I am a better person for that gift.
Godspeed Carson.

Condolence: I served as the pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Glenville, WV. Tammy and I spent a lot of time dealing with Carson. Carson was a handful to say the least but we had a blast. If you could over look some of his antics you would find a very complex, intelligent and interesting person. When Carson hurt his leg and had to get treatment in Charleston I took him on several occasions. During those trips I got to know a different Carson than most knew. I can actually say that I enjoyed being Carson’s friend and consider it an honor. Yes, we had our “run ins” but that never diminished my love for him. I left Glenville before Carson did. I’m glad Carson found a place in his last days and seemly had a peaceful death. Thanks to everyone who looked out for Carson. He will be missed in a very special way.

Condolence: Buckhannon WV has lost a Man that will never be forgotten. To so many people within the community Carson Yeager was legion. An individual that lived a life different than most. A life that many viewed as a rough, lonely and a desperate life. After spending several very close years with Carson I realized that Carson was not an average person , by far he was above average, Intelligent, witty , organized and very caring individual. Carson was stronger than steel, tougher than nail and as kind as a kitten . His memories, unique character, laughter, singing and stories will never be forgotten. We miss you Carson Yeager, Rest in Peace .

Condolence: Carson Yeager was one of the kindest people I have ever met. He would stop in my shop, visit with me and if I had any work, he would make a few dollars. I remember when I got the flu and was out sick, Carson chechecked on me, through friends, until I was better.

Many times I’ve given Carson a ride home and he loved that I always made sure that I remembered his birthdays & Christmas. A talented man, Carson had a beautiful voice and could sing all the old hymns, never forgetting any of the words.

Buckhannon lost a good man when Carson died and Heaven gained an angel for the choir.
