Patricia A. “Peepsie” (Godfrey) Leach, 82, of Grantsville, WV crossed over to her heavenly home on Friday, August 17, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born April 5, 1936 in Withers, WV, a daughter of the late O. C. Godfrey (1968) and Alda Ruth (Kuhl) Godfrey (1955).
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Denzil Leach (2003); sister, Monoka Blair; brother-in-law, Earl Blair (2018); brother, Kenneth D. Godfrey (2015); sister-in-law, Jean (Owens) Godfrey (2011); sister, A. Jean Burkhammer Dunlap (2017); half-brothers and spouses, Orace and Oma Godfrey; Wise “Jake” and Beulah “Dot” Godfrey; Carris “Cobb” and Ruby Godfrey; half-sisters and spouses, Bina and Cree Radcliff; Mina and Ted Talhammer; Ruby Brannon Conrad and Robert; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Nieces, nephews, and other family members remaining to honor her life are: Danny G. and Loretta Morrell, Sr. and Danny G. Morrell, Jr. and family; Sandra S. Kesselring and her daughters, Charmaine L. Kesselring and Jean E. Kesselring Tincher and Rick Tincher; Angela K. Blair Able and Mike and her children and their families, Tara Lynn White, Matthew Gaskins, and Danny Gaskins; Kerry David Blair and his children and their families, David Blair and Elizabeth Blair-Jones and Daryl Jones; Rick Brannon, Debbie Harrison, and Karen and Chet Arcaba; youngest nephew, Kenneth Todd Godfrey; and two step-sons, David Leach and his family and Bernard Leach. Also surviving are special neighbors on Johnson St.
After graduating from Normantown High School, Patricia became a life-long care giver. She remained at the old farm house to care for her father until his death in 1968. After which, she moved to Grantsville and worked at Calhoun General Hospital (Minnie Hamilton Hospital) until she married Denzil Leach in 1979. Throughout her married life, she provided nursing care for several family members and most residents on Johnson Street. Peepsie never met a child (or anyone for that matter) that did not love her instantly. She spent the last years of her life attending Bethlehem Baptist Church on Rt. 5.
A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville, WV on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Gene Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Sycamore Cemetery, Mt. Zion, WV.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to your favorite Hospice Chapter or your local charity of choice in honor of Peepsie.
