Mary Susan (Mace) Tamulitis, 97, of Philippi, WV departed this life on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, WV.
She was born in Gilmer County, WV on October 28, 1918, a daughter of the late Ottie J. and Stella Gay McElwee Mace.
She was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church. She married Charles Tamulitis on November 4, 1939 at Point Marian, PA. She retired from Philip Barbour High School after 21 years in food service there. She had been a 4-H leader and lifetime All-Star. She was a past president of Retired School Employees, BCSAR, past librarian of Philippi Library, worked registering voters and election boards, and she was the first woman of Barbour County to serve on a federal jury. She had been a past Brownie leader, she worked at the Philippi Youth Center, was a member of Town and County Lamplighters CEOS, was Past President of Barbour County CEOS, was Past President of Philippi Senior Center, she was a board member of Barbour County Senior Board, and was a member of the Silver Haired League. She was a member of Region VII Board of Senior Companions and Foster Grandparents. She was a member of Dorcas Rebekahs Lodge for 51 years, was a member of the Mountaineer Drill Team, was Past Noble Grand Rebekah Lodge, was Past President of Patrick Milant Barbour #1, was Past District President District #14, Past President Rebekah Assembly of WV, and she served as President in Charleston in 1978. As she served as President she placed a wrest at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, VA. She visited all 133 Rebekah lodges in WV and she had visited Rebekah Assemblies in Virginia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Nevada, Illinois and Edmonton and Toronto Canada.
She is survived by sons, Charles O. Tamulitis (Teresa) of Philippi, WV and Martin L. Tamulitis (Joan) of Belington, WV; and son-in-law, John Ledbetter of Columbus, Ohio; grandsons, Ernest Scott Tamulitis; Brian A. Ledbetter; and Michael Ledbetter.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Charles Tamulitis; daughter, Judy Ledbetter; brother, Floyd Mace; and an infant brother.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Rosedale Baptist Church Cemetery, Rosedale, WV. Rev. Larry Fisher will officiate. Stump Funeral Home of Grantsville will conduct the services. Online condolences may be expressed at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com
