Obituary

Paris Foster Parsons, 99, of Spencer, WV passed away on January 2, 2019 at Miletree Center, Spencer, WV.
He was born March 29, 1919 at White Oak, Calhoun County, WV. He was the son of the late Cary Benton and Ethel Boggs Parsons.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife of 72 years, Orva Parson; brothers Garfield and Spencer Parsons; and son-in-laws, Orville Earl and Tom Shaffer.

Paris had been a farmer most of his life and was selected Farmer of the Year for Calhoun County in 1967. He was known for 30 years as an antique dealer and, as he put it, “We made many friends and had fun doing what we loved”. He also worked at Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, Ohio and the Calhoun County State Road Dept. He also had a sawmill for several years and owned a General Store at Chloe in the 1950’s. Paris enjoyed raising a wonderful vegetable garden every year from a young age and into his 90’s.
Paris was inducted in the US Army on November 10, 1942 during WWII. He served as an MP in the campaigns at Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He also received two medals. Paris was a Protestant and was baptized by Rev. Lloyd Keith.

He is survived by three children: Judith Shaffer of Canton, Ohio; Betty Earl of Parkersburg, WV; and Bob and Pat Parsons of Canton, Ohio; six grandchildren: Diane, Cathy, Mark, Chris, Lisa, and Rob; eight great-grandchildren: Heath, MaryBeth, Garrett, Rylee, Ryker, Liam, Brody, and Dylan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg, WV on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Noon. Rev. Jim Lough will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Clark Jarvis Cemetery on White Oak.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given, in honor of Paris Parsons, to the Roane County Animal Shelter, 2550 Parkersburg Rd., Spencer, WV 25276.

(Psalms 83:18) He makes this promise: "And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." (Revelation 21:4) So please remember you are loved and God's word promises you will see your loved one again. Please accept my condolences Parsons family and friends. Revelation 21: 3,4 speaks of a time in the near future when tears, pain, even death will be wiped away and will never be brought to mind again. 'The former things will have passed away. This is a most precious gift from our loving Heavenly Father Jehovah God who never intended for his children to suffer. So, reflect on this assured promise for it will definitely come true and cherish your most precious memories.
